Fake Interpreter at Nelson Mandela's Remembrance

I was listening to the radio the other day and I was also reading some online news and I stumbled upon an article about the 'fake' interpreter at Nelson Mandela's remembrance event. 
It has been brought to everyone's attention that the interpreter at the even was 'fake' sparking outrage.  Radio 4 hosts a programme called PM and there was a deaf lady on there discussing that what the interpreter was doing with his hand was meaningless.  There is speculation that the interpreter had absolutely no idea of what he was doing, he was basically making it up as he was going along.
With all of this outrage the interpreter was asked questions and apparently he was having a 'fit' of some sort and was treated on the stage.
My point of concern is that this apparent interpreter was stood alongside world leaders, who knows what this person is capable of.
